The Friars School Week 18

This week the boys from Friars school have been completing the Saints ‘Programme Trail’. They were tasked with looking through a Saints programme and answering questions about it, looking at advertising, player interviews and creating player profiles, Saints news, previous games and reading tables and interpreting data.

After an hour practical session where they took part in a range of competitive and team work games, they had the afternoon focusing on healthy eating. Jeanette spent some time with the boys talking about their 5 a day, having a healthy breakfast, a balanced diet and covering the five main food groups on the eat well plate. They then had a taste of the 16 fruits we had on offer, and made a smoothie with their 3 favourite fruits.

Induction Days

We’ve all enjoyed doing our induction days with Hopping Hill, Standens Barn, Kings Heath, Lyncrest, Spring Lane and Delapre schools; doing name badges, origami rugby shirts and a practical tag rugby session. We are now looking forward to our 7 week PFS evening sessions with the young learners.

Thomas Becket

Thomas Becket

Today we welcomed a new group from Thomas Becket for a 5 week transition programme, to help them settle into school and meet other students in their year and hopefully make some new friends. They started their day by having their photos taken with Bernie the mascot and a group photo, they then when on the computers and made name badges; using word art, changing the background colour and adding in photos to create an exciting design. The young learners then learnt how to do origami, making shorts and shirt for a rugby kit. After lunch they were introduced to I Am Learning, a game based revision website which engages and motivates students to learn. They then went for a practical tag rugby session where they played a range of competitive and team work based games.
