The Saints Study Centre, was awarded the “Quality in Study Support (QiSS) national award as an ESTABLISHED CENTRE from Christ College, Canterbury recently at a recognition meeting held at West Ham United Learning Zone. The award is a testament to the work which is going on at the Saints Study Centre and in the 153 Study Centres, based at professional sports clubs, representing 15 different sports, right across the country.
The QiSS scheme promotes quality in the provision of study support and, therefore, thoroughly scrutinizes the evidence that it needs from a centre before issuing its kite mark.
This year is the twelth year of this government project and our successes with young people is now being replicated at many top sports clubs across Europe.
Peter Austen, the Centre Manager said “We are delighted to receive this recognition for our work at the study centre. Sport can provide other avenues to enhance the learning of children, particularly for those where a mainstream approach is not always the best learning methodology.”
This adds to the recent award for promoting, ” Engagement and Active Involvement of Young People in Northamptonshire” which the Study Centre achieved in March of this year. This award presented by the Northamptonshire County Council demonstrates the commitment of the Study Centre staff to actively involve young learners in the day to day running and decision making at the Study Centre.
