Today pupils from Caroline Chisholm School have been ‘LivingLike a Saint!’

The Saints Community department offer a number of school packages, one of which is ‘Live like a Saint’. The programme consists of a series of visits to the Saints at Franklin’s Gardens which includes two classroom based workshops with two coaching sessions following.

Using the professional players as role models, the pupils investigate dietary and nutritional requirements as well as the right amount of exercise to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Following the Every Child Matters national strategy, this package supports and assists school in striving towards maintaining the Healthy Schools accreditation.

Young learners from Caroline Chisholm School arrived at the Saints Study Centre this morning, half went into the Academy room with Jeanette and the other half stayed in the ICT Zone with David, a Saints Community Coach. Jeanette’s group took part in a healthy eating session, learning all about a balanced and healthy lifestyle as well as making tasty smoothies. Meanwhile, the technical procedures were covered by David. An hour later the groups swapped over to experience both sessions. It was then time to head back to school after a busy morning ‘living like a Saint’. That’s not all the young learners will see of David though, as he is going into school tomorrow to teach them SAQ skills relating to strength and conditioning work used by the 1st team.
