“This trip has been fantastic ! Yesterday was so much fun we made Lego cars and had to program them using the tools on the computer it was so much fun. Grant and I had a great laugh making our car.  We won in the grand prix 2 out of 3 races. The computer based part of the afternoon was also fun which involved a lot of maths based questions. Today included rugby kicking practice which was fun but I failed at it miserably. Healthy eating was the session in the afternoon!  We had a chat about what fruits we eat and what we ate for our breakfast that morning.  I really learned about some healthier options. We designed and made our own smoothies. mine was blackberries with pineapple and orange juice. DELISH !! Thanks to Pete and all the staff for making it an enjoyable 2 days!! Hope tomorrow is as fun !!”

“This trip has been great especially the kicking coaching and learning the proper techniques! Kicking over the post was great especially when we started to go for longer efforts.the kicking course has been the highlight of my week as i like the practical sports activities!

Thanks!”

Day 2

Today the group has used practical mathematics. The first session was run by Barclaycard and the group was split into two teams, each group being given an egg to ‘nurture’. All the staff from Barclaycard were from the decision science department and talked to the group about their jobs before each team was given decision mathematics and logic tasks to complete. After each task they were allowed to pick an item to wrap their egg in – the final task was to drop the egg from a height without smashing it!

After a refreshing drink and ONE biscuit the group had a kicking session with one of the Saints community coaches. Despite being a little windy the session began dry, however it soon started raining again! It didn’t dampen their spirits and the group realised the importance of forces and angles of projection when trying to kick a rugby ball.

The afternoon began with our healthy eating session. All enjoyed trying the fruit before creating their own smoothie focusing on the nutritional information they would need to include in order to market it. They then had the opportunity to make and try their own creations!

Looking forward to tomorrow!
