Fifteen gifted and talented Year 10 science students from Wrenn School are taking part in a pilot programme comprised of three fun-filled activity days at the Saints Study Centre. Wrenn School is a Specialist Science College, and is running this event in conjunction with the Saints Study Centre as part of its Specialist Science status.

The students, aged 14-15 years old, have been chosen for their ability in science, and  during their stay will be making robots, doing Physics problems in conjunction with a stadium tour, learning about healthy eating and designing their own rugby club, amongst many other exciting challenges.

Joe Gray and James Cannon (son of 1980s Saints star, Vince Cannon) kindly stopped off mid-training to meet the students and to have their photos taken with them, and ask them about their days at the Saints Study Centre. Of course, at a staggering 6ft 8in, James towered above our students!

Wrenn is very grateful to the Saints Study Centre for helping to organise this fantastic event for our students.

I really enjoyed today. It was very well thought out and very imformative. I enjoyed the robolab, it was interesting how everyone created different robots with the same intention. I also enjoyed learning about the grounds and history of the club.

I have really enjoyed today, especiailly the robotics. The different stages of the robotics made it challenging, but more fun to take part in. I also enjoyed the tour because i know that it is something that few people will get to experience and i can now say that i have been there.

  8. D S says:

today at the Saints Study Centre was good i liked the stadium tour and also the lego/robolab which was fun but also quite challenging.

  9. Beth Lloyd says:

I’ve had a really good day, doing things we wouldn’t normally get to do. I enjoyed the tour inparticular due to the fact we got to see things we wouldn’t have usually seen. I found the robotics very interesting and hopfully I’ll get to do it again sometime!

  12. Veena Tailor says:

It was a fun day overall. I liked the tour of the stadium and making little robot cars, but i think more time was needed.
It was slightly scary meeting James Cannon and Joe Gray because they were soooooooo tall!

  13. Bryn Waughington says:

I think the day in general was very good and i would gladly do it again. The robot lego thing was very good altough my partner got into it to much with all the shouting.

  14. Hazel says:

(Day 2) Again, I really enjoyed today. I enjoyed the rugby in the morning and enjoyed making a team (although we haven’t finished it yet). I also learned the formation of rugby teams and think I understand rugby a bit more. I can’t wait for tomorrow!

  15. Rachel Dodson says:

I really enjoyed the rugby session and it increased my rugby skills and it was loads of fun! The club challenge is really good, i love the creative side of it. Oh, and ours is gonna’ win! :)
