This term St James and Hopping Hill Primary Schools have piloted the DSP behavioural initiative here at the Study Centre.
DSP stands for Designated Special Provision and in some schools caters for hearing impaired children or for autism but ours is for behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD). The idea came from the BESD panel which is a group made up of Headteachers from schools with DSP’s. If a school has a child they feel needs input in this area they can apply to the panel for support.

Whilst at the Study Centre the groups of children have taken part in numerous activities including: making name badges; exploring Franklin’s Gardens on a stadium tour; creating an origami rugby kits; practising their circus skills with Kevin Burke, the County Jester; and taking part in a tag rugby session on the Saints training pitches with Saints Community Coaches.
